Captured moments of fun, family, and some learning...
The boys were learning the letter "S" and we kicked off the week with a special "S" dinner including spaghetti, strawberries, string beans, and smore's for dessert!!
Dad joined us for an indoor marshmallow Snowball fight!
Most of our letter of the week activites come from one of my favorite home school blogs confessionsofahomeschooler. She provides great resources and printables!
Snow Activities
Letter identification, color and shape matching, and patterns
Making straw necklaces
Graphing skittles
I had some glow in the dark stars from the $1 Target section, so we glued those on poster paper and the boys filled in with outer space drawings.
Bless my boys, I'm addicted to books and always sharing what we're reading!
Our S books included Stone Soup, Swimmy, Snowmen At Night, Frosty the Snowman, and The Snowy Day.
For the C Bear last week, he practiced estimating and measuring gallons, liters, and pints.
We used vegetables to explore fractional parts of a whole. Then we had people taste each vegetable and passed out tags for each vegetable that was liked. Later we practiced graphing the tags on a bar graph and writing observations about the graph.
Geography - Venice, Italy
Social Studies: Human Relationships - Fatherhood, the Homeless and Adoption
Language - Matching Description and Drama and Exercise (which included acting out some of our vocabulary words such as strutting, groaned, wheeled, worried and glum, etc ... hilarious!)
Art - Use of Color for Light
Here is Caleb's artwork showing how to create the effect of light coming from windows.
We've been learning about the life of David in our Bible timeline.
Here is our review sheet from Bible Fun For Kids and two of the supplemental books we read.
We made King David's crown and then crowned our own little king David!
We also welcomed cousin Andrew last week!
The day we knew Aunt Lauren was on her way to the hospital, this is what Caleb brought to show me after his journal writing time that morning!
"Today Aunt Lauren is having her baby. We don't know his name yet. I hope that the doctor did well."
