Spring Happenings

Here are a few of our May photos and activities that wrapped up our school year!

Spring time flowers!

Thanks Aunt MoMo and Uncle Big D for this fun "Science on a Garden Adventure" Kit
The boys planted four different type of seeds in their garden tray. They checked the pH level of the water and soil and learned about how air pollution can effect the pH balance of rain water which in turn effects many aspects of nature.

Ready to observe and see how our seeds grow with proper care!

We took a pond field trip to wrap up Luke's Pond Unit Study and
Caleb's Life Cycle Unit Study.

Feeding the geese

Baby goslings!

Feeding the ducks

The boys had fun using these little I Spy Spring Edition cards from Spelloutloud.com.

After putting all Luke's pond animal activities together in a book, he said that he had no idea how "cool" it was going to turn out. :-)
I was really proud of his phonics and writing on his frog vs toad page.

Luke sharing about his Pond book. Warning: this might only be interesting if you're a grandparent :-)

Our FIAR literary map of story disks.
We were able to track all the stories we read this year about people and animals from all over the world while also learning some map basics.

Bible Timeline
The boys finished their Old Testament Big Picture Bible Timelines! We all thought it was pretty cool to see the entire thing laid out! They reviewed by removing pages and seeing if we could remember what story went in the missing spot. Here is Caleb with his timeline.

Math Time
Luke continuing to work on one to one correspondence and here Caleb is working on a place value write the room activity. "Write the room" is his favorite.

Caleb playing a game with Luke to help him practice one to one correspondence. You roll the dice to see how many stickers to place in your tray.

Caleb also worked on greater than, less than, equal to...
Alligator, Alligator which one will you eat?
The bigger one
The greater one
It will be sweet!
