Praying for Your Children (Printable Prayer Cards)

Two of my favorite resources for cultivating a lifestyle of constant prayer over my children that is permeated with the Word of God are The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian and Praying the Scriptures for Your Children by Jodie Berndt.

These wonderful resources that I continue to refer to over and over again are often my first choice as gifts for new moms, yet I also remember barely being able to keep my eyes open during those first few months to change a diaper let alone read a book! I wanted to create a little gift that was small, portable, and simple that would help young moms begin right away cultivating the habit of praying scripture over their children.

I pulled scripture prayers from the above mentioned books as well as 31 Biblical Virtues to Pray for Your Children, and put them in a small card format.

I've used these for myself, as gifts, and at baby showers.

When using to shower blessings on a coming child, each guest takes a card. Then we go around and read the scriptural prayer over the baby. Then the cards are put together on a ring and given to the expecting mother. It's really a sweet moment to hear all your friends going to the throne of God on behalf of the child in your womb.

Since the cards have become a popular request for others to use, I thought I'd make them easily accessible from the blog.

Print on card stock and/ or laminate. Cut out. Hole Punch. Put on a ring. Done!

The links below will take you to a google doc of the prayer cards. You can download the documents and then edit the cards to include a child's name or print with the blanks.

Nothing fancy but I hope you find these to be a blessing!
