When I threw out the idea to the boys of making Christmas gifts for each other this year, they were actually thrilled and went beyond my expectation in creativeness with very little assistance from me. I told them this non-crafty mom would help a little, but it needed to be something they could make mostly by themselves.
Caleb came up on his own with the idea to make a bow and arrow out of sticks for Luke. This thing could fly! How fun it was to see Luke play with it more than any other toy Christmas morning! Caleb also made Jonathan a ring toss by cutting holes in paper plates and painting them, then taping a paper towel roll to another paper plate. Unfortunately, before I got a picture David ate the paper rings. Oops!
Luke made a guitar/drum instrument for Jonathan and a golf putting game for Caleb. Both huge hits!
The absolute best part was seeing how excited they were to give and receive each others gifts that they had put time, energy, and thought into. So sweet that the homemade gifts were the first ones they picked to open Christmas morning.
