Nerds, Bears, and Bones

Here are the pictures I remembered to snagg of some of our activities last week!

Our yummy letter N foods were Nerds and Nachos

Our Fairy Tale unit continued with Goldilocks and The Three Bears. We read both Paul Galdone and Jan Brett's versions and compared the stories and illustrations. We talked more about how Fairy Tales are retold by different authors, and while most of the story is the same sometimes there can be slight differences in the details.

Caleb had to read The Three Bears story cards and sort them into beginning, middle, and end of the story categories, and then put the whole story together. This was a great activity for him. Note the rolling around on the ball as he works...learning in motion! :-)

Caleb and Luke each chose a character from the story and made a character map. This was probably a bit advanced for them. So we kept it fun, and I think they learned a lot!

Our science unit on bones continued. Here are two of the books from the library we read that had good information at our age level.

The life size child skeleton puzzle that I printed off and laminated was a big hit.

Caleb had fun coloring, cutting, and gluing a paper skeleton together after learning about joints.

Luke is still practicing his pre-k graphing skills, and after sorting his goldfish snack, he made a bright pictograph of his fish.

Caleb's reading level is quickly growing. We found a series at the library called The High-Rise Private Eyes that he has enjoyed reading, and we started a bookmark for him where he gets a sticker for every book he reads.
