Luke lit the first candle of Advent...
Prophets candle of faith

The Advent Book

This amazingly beautiful book from adventbook.com creates anticipation for each day of Advent while teaching children the Christmas story in the language of scripture.

Caleb had the privilege of opening and reading the first door of The Advent Book.

Advent Prayer

Jonathan prayed for the light of the world to shine in the hearts of people in...
MORROCO.

Picture Books to Read This Week:

Lovely rhyming for little people that is engaging and memorable. Modeled after The House That Jack Built.
Big beautiful illustrations. A toddler favorite. "There's always room for a little one here."
Even my older boys enjoy this book of lyrical couplets. As we read, they try to think of all the biblical Christmas words they can that start with each letter.
  • The Donkey's Dream by Barbara Berger
A beautiful story for small children. The donkey carrying the virgin Mary dreams of what he carries on his back.
  • What Child Is This? by Martha Marshall
**I adore this little book. Sadly, it is very hard to find, so keep your eyes out for it at second hand book stores and libraries.   "Let us love Him as Mary and Joseph did. Let us tell others about Him as the shepherds did. Let us thank God for Him as Simeon and Anna did. Let us worship Him as the wise men did."
  • The Christ Child by Maud and Miska Petersham
Hard to come by but worth a try. We found a copy at our local library. Use this book to read the King James scriptural account of Christ's birth. There is something beautiful and sacred about the language and illustrations. The author/ illustrators traveled to Palestine in order to more fully capture the beauty of the Holy Land.
